and two parts of my tithe and I gave the two abnormal persons each, Rs.50/-,
one of them was a widow. That is all I had in my pocket. They were so glad
that they were filled with amazement and could not understand how I had
given them such gifts. They shed many tears of joy.
Then again, the Lord
had distinctly spoken to my heart from Matt.9:36 and Mark 6:37 reminding me
that I am to give food to the hungry. Now I came to realize that the Lord
wanted me, a weeping widow, a mother of five small children, who had nothing
to feed those helpless children. I was to lift up my eyes and to go to
further places and in a wider field where there were so many poor women
(widows who are helpless and are in need of help).
I then began to
pray. Sometimes I prayed to the Lord three whole days and whole nights with
fasting. Sometimes I prayed early on Sunday mornings, and sometimes I prayed
all through the night. I continued the prayer for three whole years. As the
result of my humble prayers to the Lord, we could at last organize the
Widows Welfare Association in the year 1985. We had regular prayer meeting
on every second Saturday of each month, bringing our collections and gifts
together. After having a prayer meeting we brought cleaned rice together
which we spared instead of cooking it for our food. This was used for the
care of the perishing widows, who sold beer and who practiced prostitution
to earn their living and for the support of their young children. Some of
these widows had participated in this prayer meeting.
What we contributed
and collected was not enough for the support of these needy widows. Then we
again offered prayers to the Lord. We submitted ourselves to the Lord and we
were prepared to obey the word of God in everything, and to go wherever He
may lead and send us.
